I’m a writer and website user experience designer — a job that, thanks to an increasingly wired world, I can take pretty much anywhere (Dingle, Dublin, the Dordogne, Helsinki, Washington DC, Cork, Annascaul, Philadelphia…).
I’ve traveled quite a bit and have lived in far-flung places (I seem to have an attraction to islands. The UK. Oahu. Ireland). I am a dual citizen of Ireland and the U.S., recently returned to the U.S. after living in Ireland for 15 years. I’m now based in Philadelphia, a homecoming of sorts, as I was born across the river in Camden, NJ.
I have two Master’s degress: an MPA (Public Policy, 1988) from Columbia University and an MS (Interactive Media, 2011) from University College Cork. My BA is from Bucknell University (political science and economics).
On the creative side, I enjoy photography and have a small stock portfolio (er, iStock, not Wall Street stock). I write poetry and have been published in a few Irish journals (The Stinging Fly and WOW! Magazine). I also play the guitar and the fiddle, the former pretty well and the latter, meh (but continually working on it).
